Overview

reacHIRE is proud to partner with Wayfair for a 6-month return-to-work program starting in July 2021 designed for professionals who are returning to the workforce after a 2+ year career break. Wayfair is hiring for a Senior Copywriter to join their team!

 

Candidates who have worked in part-time roles or have done independent contracting will be considered for this opportunity. It is a cohort-based model that allows individuals to re-enter the workforce in a supported way with a group of fellow returning professionals. We provide a one-week intensive onboarding specially designed to build the skills needed to successfully re-enter the workforce. This proven approach fosters camaraderie among colleagues, builds confidence and upgrades technology and professional skills that will be invaluable throughout this next phase of their career.

 

Note that some of the responsibilities and areas of expertise listed below represent performance expectations to be met or skills to be gained by the end of the 6-month program. The Wayfair Return-to-Work program is designed to help candidates on-ramp and upskill. We encourage all candidates with applicable prior experience to apply!

Responsibilities

Wayfair is home to one of the retail industry’s largest in-house creative agencies. The Creative Group is a world-class team, comprised of many disciplines – designers, copywriters, stylists, editors, cinematographers, directors, producers, and more. Our work fuels all forms of on-site and off-site marketing and communication with our consumers, from TV to online video to social, email, direct mail, and more. The extended Wayfair family includes Wayfair Professional, our B2B brand, three Specialty Retail Brands (AllModern, Birch Lane, Joss&Main), and a luxury brand (Perigold). We’re on the lookout for seasoned copywriters to contribute and mentor junior creatives as we explore new channels for our evolving brands. 

This copywriter will help to execute copy across all marketing channels. The role requires someone who can partner with both creative and non-creative business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the brand’s voice standards to help drive brand consistency and evolution.
  • Inspire and concept ideas with your design counterpart for all touch points along the customer journey -- brand campaigns to major shopping holidays, email marketing to direct mail pieces, instagram stories to digital advertising, catalog to online video (and beyond). 
  • Review and thoughtfully critique the team’s work, providing actionable feedback and direction for junior team members to explore.
  • Manage aggressive deadlines along with your project manager.
  • Pivot seamlessly between micro- and macro-level views.
  • Maintain seamless communication with partners on other teams, effectively translating creative strategy when required.
  • Analyze performance metrics and other data (especially customer insights!) from a creative point of view, and use that information to help the team guide creative decisions.
  • Help the team to develop innovative creative solutions that both elevate the brand and engage customers.
  • Think critically to drive efficiency, strategically planning work that can be used across multiple channels and media.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years relevant experience, preferably for an e-commerce brand or agency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in copy, communications, or a related field. (Equivalent training/experience also considered.)
  • Experience in branding and omni-channel campaign programs.
  • Inherent curiosity -- an interest in home furnishings, interior design or fashion.
  • Strong organizational skills and effective time management.

  • Brand/campaign examples you’re most proud of.
  • Insight-driven conceptual work.
  • Projects for unexpected channels (ambient, experiential, out-of-the-home – all great!).
  • Successful creative that influenced a positive change in customer behavior.
