reacHIRE is proud to partner with Wayfair for a 6-month return-to-work program starting in July 2021 designed for professionals who are returning to the workforce after a 2+ year career break. Wayfair is hiring for a Program Manager, Learning & Development to join their team!

 

Candidates who have worked in part-time roles or have done independent contracting will be considered for this opportunity. It is a cohort-based model that allows individuals to re-enter the workforce in a supported way with a group of fellow returning professionals. We provide a one-week intensive onboarding specially designed to build the skills needed to successfully re-enter the workforce. This proven approach fosters camaraderie among colleagues, builds confidence and upgrades technology and professional skills that will be invaluable throughout this next phase of their career.

 

Note that some of the responsibilities and areas of expertise listed below represent performance expectations to be met or skills to be gained by the end of the 6-month program. The Wayfair Return-to-Work program is designed to help candidates on-ramp and upskill. We encourage all candidates with applicable prior experience to apply!

Responsibilities

The mission of Tech Talent Development is to accelerate the effectiveness of an empowered and high-performing engineering organization by equipping our 3,000+ person global technology community of software engineers, product managers, designers and data science and machine learning teams with the skills, knowledge and resources to deliver industry-leading results. Wayfair Engineering (ENG for short) is a decentralized global org spanning across customer facing, supplier facing, employee facing, infrastructure, and collaboration teams. Atomic pods are organized under each functional area and consist of software engineers, product managers, data engineers, analysts, and user experience designers. 

 

As Program Manager, you will develop, design & execute Wayfair’s engineering community & internal engineering communications strategy:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development of a framework to connect communities by discipline to drive connectedness, best practices, and consistent end to end processes. 
  • Ensure communities can share best practices, networking and career development opportunities to create a stronger and faster impact throughout the organization. 
  • Develop engineering communications with a focus on content simplification and targeting/personalization 
  • Help to drive adoption of best practices and build them into the flow of work.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across multiple teams and strong partnerships at all levels of the engineering organization.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ relevant work experience 
  • Project management, community management, comms, learning & development, talent strategy or business consulting experience is needed in a technical organization a plus
  • Experience managing complex cross functional projects 
  • Ability to take a vision and drive high quality strategy and execution
  • Extensive experience collaborating across multiple stakeholder groups and gaining leadership buy-in from senior management
  • High degree of comfort and past experience with navigating large & complex orgs
  • Ability to be an assertive, collaborative, self-starter with solid executive presence
  • Strategic communication skills for messaging to a broad array of constituents 
  • Experience with qualitative & quantitative data to make decisions & measure impact in Excel
  • Proactive self-starter mentality & comfort working independently & collaboratively
  • Capacity to think flexibly and move quickly in a fast-growing and ever-changing environment
