Responsibilities

At Wayfair - the backbone of our business sits on the success of the prices we set for all +5m products in our massive catalog.  Small incremental improvements in our understanding of consumer or supplier behaviors can have massive ripple effects to our bottom line.  As Wayfair grows, we continue to invest in pricing capabilities to both keep pace with new business opportunities and keep pace with our rapid pace of growth.  Wayfair's Pricing Product Management team is seeking a sharp, data driven product manager to join their team and focus on a number of key initiatives with us.  This product manager will work closely with our engineering and business teams to help to define, build and adapt our pricing tools with a specific focus on how we distribute prices to the broader Wayfair organization.  This will be done through technology projects such as driving the adoption of our centralized pricing data to business oriented projects such as the support for ‘made-to-order’ products like custom upholstery which come with a host of new pricing challenges.   This role is ideal for someone who is both business and tech-savvy looking for a unique challenge and capable of working across multiple teams to achieve an objective.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with various business stakeholders to identify and help to develop key requirements for strategic initiatives and build the business requirements to execute on them.
  • Measure, evaluate and report on the team's success towards key initiatives.
  • Conduct big data analysis using internal analytical and BI tools such as Google BigQuery and SQL.
  • Understand complex business problems and be able to articulate the value derived from solving them.
  • Prioritize work among many competing goals to execute on highest value business objectives and be able to back up these decisions with data.
  • Present findings with a clear point of view so that insights can be used to help drive business strategy and technology projects
  • Track, diagnose, and resolve system issues alongside engineers and analysts.  Document and understand root causes and build solutions not bandaids.
  • Wrangle data from multiple sources including sales, inventory, product, and customer systems to create integrated views that can be used to drive decision making

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of product management experience working with technology platforms, preferably in an Agile environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in either a technology or business discipline.
  • Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated experience turning data into actionable insights while understanding business strategy and metrics.
  • Strongly collaborative and effective in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to think strategically, and tactically while managing through ambiguity, adversity and conflict to establish focus and deliver against business goals.
  • Proficient and comfortable with SQL or other relational database query languages.

Example initiatives you will be part of:

  • Drive the definition and execution of a complex project to bring the pricing support to life for ‘highly configurable products.’  Be part of a team building functionality to support the sale of a new set of products on wayfair.com with direct impact on our bottom line.
