We are excited to partner with Wayfair for a 6-month return-to-work program starting in January 2023.

Summary

The WDN Software Engineering group builds systems that scale beyond their high growth rate. With over 15 agile teams with strong Logistics and Operations fundamentals working across their Boston and Berlin offices, Wayfair’s teams build a variety of applications including user facing mobile apps to drive in-building and on-road execution, algorithmic order routing and cost optimization, and many more! 

While software is a big part of what they do, the broader group operates as one team composed 

of multiple functional experts across Software, Product, Physical Operations, Industrial Engineering, and other disciplines. They strive to deliver a world-class experience to customers and field associates so that everyone can live in a home they love

Responsibilities

What You’ll Contribute Day-to-Day:

  • Over time, become a technical leader within the teams you work with 
  • Help to drive high impact architectural decisions and hands-on development, including inception, design, execution, and delivery following good design and coding practices 
  • Maintain a focus on production readiness for the team including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation and proactive troubleshooting
  • Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet team and project goals 
  • Influence and contribute to the team's strategy and roadmap

Qualifications

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You:

  • Are experienced in architecting and building large-scale, cloud-based and event-driven systems across various projects 
  • Have several years of experience with multiple programming languages, Java and/or Python strongly preferred, Kotlin & PHP also acceptable 
  • Possess a deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms 
  • Have proven successes in mentoring engineers to improve standards and reduce defects in dynamic environments 
  • Have the capability to collaborate across the wider organization, influence even without direct authority with an inclusive, adaptable and persuasive communication style 
  • Have a track record of delivering in increments and learning as you go
