Responsibilities

An insurance senior marketing specialist is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies for insurance products and services. They work closely with the sales team, the product development team, and the senior management to identify the target market, create the value proposition, and design the promotional campaigns. They also monitor and analyze the market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activities to optimize the marketing performance and achieve the business goals.

 

What You'll Contribute Day-to-Day: 

  • Maintains a deep understanding of the business goals and objectives, targeted growth areas, distribution strategy, etc. 
  • Develop innovative and effective marketing initiatives to support strategic business unit objectives and effectively reports on results
  • Manage projects of critical importance
  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns for insurance products and services across various channels, such as email, social media, web, print, and events
  • Impact department and business results and operational effectiveness
  • Maintain deep subject matter and industry expertise, including target audience/distribution
  • Analyze the market data, customer feedback, and competitor activities to evaluate the effectiveness of the marketing strategies and identify the areas of improvement
  • Effectively review and report results of marketing programs and identifies areas for improvement in return on marketing investment
  • Identifies significant new marketing strategies to generate awareness and brand exposure for products
  • Regularly conducts competitive and SWOT analysis and follows competitor marketing to develop points of differentiation that enhance or drive improvements to marketing messages and initiatives. 
  • Develop customer personas and help to identify the customer needs, preferences, opportunities, and pain points
  • Pursues alternative distribution channels for consideration
  • Manages marketing spend for programs/products assigned
  • Acts as primary marketing representative on cross-department committees or projects
  • Detailed knowledge of Markel products, systems, workflows, and guidelines. Shares knowledge and competitive advantages with others and ensure it is leveraged within campaigns
  • Coordinate with the sales team, the product development team, and the senior management to ensure the alignment of the marketing objectives and the business objectives
  • Create and update the marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, newsletters, presentations, and web content
  • Manage the marketing budget and track the return on investment (ROI) of the marketing campaigns
  • Report on the marketing performance and provide recommendations for future actions

Qualifications

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related field
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in marketing, preferably in the insurance industry
  • Strong knowledge of the insurance products and services, the market trends, and the customer behavior
  • Ability to develop, foster, and maintain a working relationship with clients (internal/external).
  • Proficient in using various marketing tools and platforms, such as CRM, email marketing, social media, web analytics, and graphic design
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle large projects effectively with limited supervision
  • Creative, analytical, and strategic thinking skills 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail, delivering quality content and projects on time and within budget
  • Excel at working in team environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, and recognize priority tasks with ability to adjust accordingly
  • SME of systems, workflows, and guidelines for assigned product lines.
  • Able to understand business processes, and provide input for business solutions

 

It's An Added Bonus If You Have:

  • Copywriting experience preferred
